Rugby: France-Ireland match rescheduled

9:36 AM Wednesday Feb 15, 2012

Six Nations organisers have rescheduled the postponed match between France and Ireland to March 4.

The tournament’s council met today and decided the game at Stade de France will start at 4 p.m. local time after it was abandoned just before kickoff last Sunday because of a frozen pitch.

The council also confirmed that ticket-holders unable to attend the match will receive a full refund.

World Cup finalist France opened its Six Nations campaign with a 30-12 win over Italy, while Ireland lost 23-21 to Wales.

The last Six Nations matches to be postponed were when an outbreak of foot and mouth disease in Ireland in 2001 forced the Irish team to delay three matches from February-March to September-October.
