Sharks name touring squad for Chiefs

sharksrugby.co.za – (30/07/2012)

The Sharks have added Pat Lambie and Paul Jordaan to the match 22 that defeated the Stormers on Saturday for a 24 man touring squad that will head to Sydney, Australia on Sunday afternoon.

Both players were in a race against time to be fit for the semi-final, and although the pair didn’t make it, they are expected to be available for Saturday’s Vodacom Super Rugby Final against the Chiefs in Hamilton.

No injuries were reported by coach John Plumtree and aside from the regulation bumps and bruises, The Sharks could go into the final being able to name a completely first-choice match 22.

“I always knew we were good enough to win this match,” said The Sharks coach after the game, “but it was always going to take an amazing amount of character and guts to achieve it. I think we saw that, especially when the Stormers came back at us in those last 10 minutes, we just had to hang on and did.

“There were a lot of really tired bodies in there but this group has gathered belief in the last seven or eight weeks and we’re just following through right now which is great.”

The Sharks have risen to the challenge over the latter stages of the tournament and now find themselves in a position that sees them competing for the trophy.
