{"id":14870,"date":"2014-02-07T12:01:37","date_gmt":"2014-02-06T23:01:37","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.com\/?p=14870"},"modified":"2014-02-07T12:01:37","modified_gmt":"2014-02-06T23:01:37","slug":"italy-to-play-japan-in-tokyo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rugbyredefined.com\/wp\/uncategorized\/2014\/02\/italy-to-play-japan-in-tokyo\/","title":{"rendered":"Italy to play Japan in Tokyo"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RedefinedRugby\">Follow @RedefinedRugby<\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align:center;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/11\/japan.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-3742\" style=\"border:0 none;\" alt=\"japan\" src=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2012\/11\/japan.jpg?resize=160%2C172\" width=\"160\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/11\/italy.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-13087\" style=\"border:0 none;\" alt=\"italy\" src=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/11\/italy.jpg?resize=150%2C172\" width=\"150\" height=\"172\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Italy<\/strong> have added a test date with <strong>Japan<\/strong> to a summer test series which already includes encounters against <strong>Fiji<\/strong> and <strong>Samoa<\/strong>, the Italian Rugby Federation (FIR) announced Thursday.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>Italy, who began their Six Nations campaign last week with a 23-15 defeat to Wales in Cardiff, will face the &#8216;Brave Blossoms&#8217; in Tokyo on June 21.<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The announcement was made by the president of the Japanese Rugby Federation (JRFU), Tatsuzo Yabe, in Tokyo on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re happy to be welcoming Italy back to Japan after an eight-year absence,&#8221; said Yabe in a statement released by the FIR.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It will be an opportunity for Japan to test themselves against a quality side which is currently engaged in one of rugby&#8217;s most prestigious tournaments, the Six Nations.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;For us, it&#8217;s also a great chance to help develop our squad ahead of the 2015 World Cup, and to create enthusiasm for the 2019 World Cup taking place in Japan.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Former Brumbies and Wallabies coach Eddie Jones, who has been coach of Japan since 2012, said: &#8220;It will be a great honour to challenge Italy here in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Azzurri probably have the best scrum in Europe and probably the best No. 8 in Sergio Parisse.
