{"id":9878,"date":"2013-06-11T09:53:45","date_gmt":"2013-06-10T21:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.com\/?p=9878"},"modified":"2013-06-11T09:53:45","modified_gmt":"2013-06-10T21:53:45","slug":"beale-in-no-cooper-for-wallabies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/rugbyredefined.com\/wp\/uncategorized\/2013\/06\/beale-in-no-cooper-for-wallabies\/","title":{"rendered":"Beale in, no Cooper for Wallabies"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a class=\"twitter-follow-button\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RedefinedRugby\">Follow @RedefinedRugby<\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/lions55.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-8866 aligncenter\" alt=\"lions55\" src=\"http:\/\/rugbyredefined.files.wordpress.com\/2013\/04\/lions55.jpg?resize=640%2C73\" width=\"640\" height=\"73\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img.skysports.com\/13\/06\/800x600\/James-Horwill-Wallabies-training-2013_2957411.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"James Horwill Wallabies training 2013\" alt=\"James Horwill Wallabies training 2013\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/img.skysports.com\/13\/06\/218x298\/James-Horwill-Wallabies-training-2013_2957411.jpg?resize=218%2C298\" width=\"218\" height=\"298\" \/><\/a>Back as captain: James Horwill<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><b>Reds captain James Horwill has also been confirmed as the Wallabies skipper for the Three-Test series against the British and Irish Lions.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Horwill led the Wallabies to Tri-Nations success in 2011 and returns to the leadership role after missing the entire 2012 Test season due to a hamstring injury.<\/p>\n<p>The final places in the squad were confirmed on Monday, with troubled utility back Kurtley Beale being joined by Hugh McMeniman, Digby Ioane, Pat McCabe, Peter Kimlin and Scott Sio.<\/p>\n<p>Beale has received counselling this season for alcohol-related problems which had caused him to be suspended from his Super Rugby side, the Melbourne Rebels.<\/p>\n<p>Melbourne scrum-half Luke Burgess and Reds hooker James Hanson will also remain with the squad this week as injury cover at the team&#8217;s training base on the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane.<\/p>\n<p>Beale will continue with his counselling and Wallabies coach Robbie Deans is confident it will not prove a distraction for the player or the team.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We know what Kurtley is capable of in this arena,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He showed that as recently as last year&#8217;s Spring Tour when he performed outstandingly and led the team from fly-half in adverse circumstances against many of the opposition players we now face again.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;His work last week during the first camp supported our contention that it was not too soon for him to get started again, from either a physical or a mental stand point.
