Seven changes XV Lion to Belgium
National coach Santiago Santos has confirmed the list of 23 players for the second match of 2014 against Belgium, in the seventh round of the European Championship FIRA-AER Nations, and qualifying for the 2015 Rugby World Cup, which will be held on Saturday February 8 in the National Rugby Stadium from the City University of Madrid.
After Saturday’s game, with a bitter defeat Russia 25-28 rotations injuries and players have been seven changes from the squad to Russia. Fall from Lion XV: Beñat Auzqui, Marco Pinto, Damien Elghoyen, Guillaume Rouet, Charlie Malie, Sebastien and Mathieu Ascatat Peluchon, the last two with injuries that will keep them on the sidelines for several weeks. Fall into place for the match against Belgium: Ion Insausti, Anaya Juan Alvaro Nunez, Sebastien Rouet, Javier Canosa, Brice Labadie and Ignacio Gutiérrez.
Against Russia, and Spain despite the defeat left the bottom of the list after adding the defense bonus and leave only Belgium, direct rival for the permanence in the Primera Division UEFA European Nations. The Belgians are falling 35-0 defeat against Georgia in Tbilisi under the snow.
For the national team, Santiago Santos, “and if the first game against Russia was a final, the match against Belgium becomes vital to the aspirations of Spain. Match against a direct rival for permanence must give sufficient encouragement to forget the heavy defeat to Russia and focus all our effort and desire to impose the Belgians, that would give a big step for permanence. ”
The team returned to training since last Monday after rest and join forces on Sunday. The Lion and XV carries two concentrated consecutive weeks to face a new challenge in the National Rugby Stadium.
